Primula (Dodecatheon) alpinum subsp. alpinum is the smallest of the genus, from high alpine wet meadows. However, the flowers are relatively large, normally bright pink, with yellow centres.

Small alpine 'shooting star' with large violet, yellow-centred flowers.
