Osmunda regalis

Osmunda regalis is a very distinctive large fern, wild but rare in Britain. It eventually forms a large rhizome, with many tall, branched fronds. The topmost section of the frond is the rusty brown fruiting part. In autumn the rest of the fronds also turn a warm brown colour.

The royal fern, with many tall, branched fronds and rusty brown fruiting spike.
