Iris lacustris

This is a section of a very few species from North America, liking damp conditions, and making mats of short leaves, with pale purple flowers on short stems.

Iris lacustris is the dwarf lake iris, Michigan's national flower, from the eastern United States. It grows to a low, spreading patch of rhizomes whose deep blue flowers are borne singly on short stems.
