These have round (globular) heads made up of a mass of tiny flowers, almost always smoky blue, on short stems above mats of small leaves. They are always popular.

Globularia valentina (linifolia) is one of the larger species, originating in Spain. It makes a mat of deep green leaves, evergreen, with many upright stems, each with its round head of violet-blue flowers.
