Deschampsia cespitosa 'Pixie Fountain' is known as tufted hair-grass or tussock grass, this is a compact strain of this decorative species. It makes quite short, tight tufts of bright green leaves, with much taller, airy stems carrying the silver green inflorescences and then the seeds.
