These are dwarf daphnes, all wonderful plants for growing in the rock garden or in pots in an alpine house or greenhouse. They are neat shrublets, with fine foliage and clusters of scented flowers, rich pinks in most varieties, although there are white ones. Some have coloured fruit.

Daphne x whiteorum 'Beauworth' is a first-rate selected form. It makes a tight dome of lustrous, narrow, deep green leaves, which disappear at flowering time beneath a mass of rich pink, scented flowers. A cross between Daphne petraea 'Grandiflora' and Daphne jasminea, so dislikes winter wet.
