Scilla litardierei (pratensis)
These provide a welcome splash of blue colour early in spring - most of them, for there other colours, and some flower in autumn. They are suited to any part of the garden that doesn't get too dry. The genus has been split into no less than 50 genera, so for a while we will use the name Scilla with the new genus in brackets. Scilla litardierei (pratensis) eventually makes compact clumps, with many stems each with a conical head packed with lilac-blue starry flowers.
