Primula zambalensis
The Armerina section contains some small plants, mostly from northern regions, which tend to have clusters of flowers on tall stems over rosettes of small leaves, without any significant amount of meal on leaves or stems. In most cases a single stem looks too lanky and uncomfortable; a patch looks splendid. But they all quickly make substantial mats, and benefit from splitting every year or two. Primula zambalensis has pale lilac flowers on tall stems, so that the head of flowers can be much larger than the few fleshy leaves. It comes from wet limestone rocks. The plants quickly form clumps, which should be divided frequently. Primula gemmifera and zambalensis were once classified as varieties of gemmifera, but they have now been split into separate species.
