Oxalis oregana 'Bob Haszeldine'
These lovely spring flowers have clover-like, delicate, fresh green foliage (they are often called shamrocks). The five-petalled, bowl- or cup-shaped flowers open and close depending on the level of sunlight - closing when it's overcast and at night. Oxalis oregana 'Bob Haszeldine' is named after Robert Haszeldine, a professor of Chemistry who loved Oxalis. The pale green foliage emerges first, soon followed by pale pink flowers, larger than the species. Native to Douglas fir and redwood forests of western USA.
