Iris dolichosiphon subsp. orientalis

This is a section of a very few species from North America, liking damp conditions, and making mats of short leaves, with pale purple flowers on short stems.

Iris dolichosiphon subsp. orientalis is an elegant small alpine, originating from high elevations in Yunnan and Sichuan. It flowers on a short stem, before its thin, dark green leaves have grown to their full.
