Heuchera rubescens var. versicolor
Most members of this genus are grown for their foliage, and there is a huge range of varieties with exotic coloured leaves. They make great ground cover, or can be used to soften the edges of paths. See also the closely related Tiarella, and x Heucherella, which are hybrids of Heuchera and Tiarella. Heuchera rubescens var. versicolor forms mounds of attractive, rounded leaves, which are sometimes maroon-tinged, with spikes of small, pink, cup-shaped flowers above the foliage. It comes from California, where it is known as the 'pink alumroot'.
