Armeria maritima subsp. andina

A genus that includes our native sea pink or thrift, often seen on coastal rocks. They make mats of bright green grassy foliage, with lots of pink or white button flowers, usually on short stems.

Armeria maritima subsp. andina demonstrates the unbelievably wide range of this plant, known in Britain as the sea pink. Elsewhere it is more likely to be found in the mountains, and in the case of this form, in the mountains of Patagonia.
