Saxifraga oppositifolia 'Splendens'

This is very widespread in the northern hemisphere, and its richly coloured flowers, usually in the red-purple range, on spreading mats of wiry shoots, are very prominent. All forms have tiny, dark green leaves. They need a sunny site, but not dry in the summer. When happy they spread rapidly.

Saxifraga oppositifolia 'Splendens' is a great form, easier to grow than most, and giving masses of rosy purplish pink flowers.
