This is a delightful Japanese plant, with large, poppy-like flowers over palmate leaves that unfurl quite late in the spring. Plants slowly increase in size, and patience is well rewarded. There are pink and white-flowered forms.

Glaucidium palmatum is the pink-flowered form.
