Aciphylla dieffenbachii Chatham Island (well to the east of New Zealand's South Island) is home to some fine plants, including this unusual member of the 'spear grass' family. It is unusual in not having the charcteristic lethal spines on the ends of the leaves. These are grey-green, making a big tuft, with erect spires of creamy flowers, being replaced in time by golden yellow seeds.
