Known as Scarlet Gilia, this attractive rosette-forming biennial or short-lived perennial is found in open sandy areas North and South America. Clear pink or red trumpet-shaped flowers, flared to a star at the outer end, are borne over a long season above finely divided silver-specked green foliage.
