These are the herbaceous perennials, not the dwarf alpine kinds. They provide good colour for quite a long period, and make good clumps quite quickly, but should be split before they get too large, to keep them vigorous.
Phlox paniculata 'Peppermint Twist' is a new introduction to the phlox world that has been well worth waiting for. The many exquisite flowers are stripy soft pink and white - they look good enough to eat - although that is probably not recommended. The plant is nicely compact and is a great performer throughout the summer. It has good resistance to mildew.
