Koelreuteria paniculata This is known as the golden rain tree - but so is Laburnum, so that isn't much help. It has pinnate leaves and gorgeous yellow flowers, which then turn into delicate, brown, papery pods, pale yellow to pink, hanging eight or ten together. It is used as a street tree in some warmer places than Britain, but so far has been perfectly hardy in the east of Scotland.
