These hydrid lilies have been bred from many species, to give plants with large, colourful flowers, and that can be expected to flourish in pots of in the garden (and to be free of viruses). There are thousand of varieties, from which these are chosen to give a range of colours, and most are short-stemmed.

Lilium lancifolium 'Splendens' is a turkscap liliy with deep orange-red flowers with black spots. A very vigorous form producing up to 25 flowers. Very tolerant of virus.
