Eccremocarpus

This is a genus from South America with five species of perennial climber, of which just one is commonly cultivated. Eccremocarpus scaber (sometimes called the Chilean glory-flower) looks good against a wall, on a fence or growing on shrubs. The shoots grow rapidly, and produce a long succession of flowers, which can be various shades of red and orange or occasionally yellow. It is often cut back to the base by a cold winter, but usually grows away in the spring.
