These deciduous azaleas include both species and hybrids, mainly originating in America. We are particularly grateful to Mike Creel of North Carolina for seed, much of it from his own hand-pollinated plants.

invisible.gif Rhododendron ex canescens x atlanticum 'Confetti Creeper' is from seed sent by Mike Creel, who raises hybrid american azaleas. The seed parent is a hybrid of Rhododendrons canescens and atlanticum, in which the petals are narrow, so this characteristic is likely to show up in the offspring.
rhododendron_choptank_x_flammeum.jpg Rhododendron choptank x flammeum is a cross between yellow and orange-flowered deciduous azaleas.
invisible.gif Rhododendron 'Hotspur Red' is a Knap Hill/Exbury hybrid with substantial heads of orange-red flowers, with a clear orange flare.
invisible.gif Rhododendron schlippenbachii is a fine species, which has large funnel-shaped flowers in spring, ranging from pale-pink to rose-pink, and slightly fragrant. In autumn there is good foliage colour. This species was discovered in Korea by a Russian naval officer, Baron von Schlippenbach, and it is also found in neighbouring regions of Manchuria and Russia.
