Many varieties are suitable for the herbaceous border, but there are also many that are of a size appropriate for rock garden use. Geranium phaeum is the Dusky cranesbill which produces flowers in a variety of colours - deep-purple, maroon, violet, lavender or white. Flourishes in damp, shady conditions.
