These are the herbaceous perennials, not the dwarf alpine kinds. They provide good colour for quite a long period, and make good clumps quite quickly, but should be split before they get too large, to keep them vigorous.

Phlox paniculata 'Spitfire' has brilliant red flowers, but its appearance is also enhanced by the leaves, which have a dark red tinge to them.

		Phlox paniculata 'Bright Eyes' has heads packed with fragrant, light pink flowers with darker centres, and dark green, lance-shaped leaves.
		Phlox paniculata 'Lilac Time' has lots of lovely scented violet flowers, and make a beautiful display.
		Phlox paniculata 'Mount Fuji' is a very long flowering perennial with large heads of white flowers on tall straight stems. It adds fragrance to a herbaceous border in late summer and will grow in full sun in most soils that do not dry out.
		Phlox paniculata 'Starfire' has shocking pink flowers, contrasting with almost black stems, arising from foliage that also has dark mark. It has lots of other good qualities: it is very fragrant, so it is popular with butterflies, it is great cut flower, and it is resistant to mildew.
		Phlox paniculata 'White Admiral' is a white-flowered variety of the perennial phlox, an erect plant reaching up to 90 cm, and good for a damp border.
