Comfrey is often grown as a source of 'vegetable manure', but this variety should not be cut down and composted. The broad, dark green, bristly leaves have substantial, uneven bands of creamy yellow or gold along their edges, making the background to the long-lasting pale blue flowers. It is excellent as ground cover.
