These hydrid lilies have been bred from many species, to give plants with large, colourful flowers, and that can be expected to flourish in pots of in the garden (and to be free of viruses). There are thousand of varieties, from which these are chosen to give a range of colours, and most are short-stemmed.
Lilium regale produces very fragrant, large, trumpet-shaped white flowers that are flushed purple on the outside of the petals and have yellow centres.
