These are dwarf, bulbous irises, flowering in late winter and bringing most welcome early colour to the garden. The flowers are relatively large, barely twice their own height above the soil, but are followed by much taller, slender leaves.

Iris 'Pixie' has fragrant violet flowers with dark spots and bright yellow crests.

invisible.gif Iris 'Cantab' suggests Cambridge blue, which is a rare colour in a flower. The colour is a soft blue, and the flowers have a distinctive orange blotch on the blade of the falls, with a few much smaller white spots.
