The so-called 'Dutch' irises provide bright colour in late spring or early summer. Each strong, upright stem produces a short succession of flowers, with a good range of colour from the available varieties.

Iris 'Frans Hals' has pale violet flowers with much darker purple falls, the two colours making an interesting contrasts.
