The oak fern is a British native, and is a most attractive plant for a cool place. The very bright green, multiply divided leaves spread flat from slender, dark stems, and look as though they must be too fragile to survive. But survive they do, keeping their freshness throughout summer, and with their rhizomes spreading to give a most welcome colony of ground cover.
