  CHL_1129.jpg
Gunnera magellanica in fruit

Habitat: cool, moist place, shaded

Flowering: summer

Height: 5 cm

Width: 15 cm

Soil: with plenty of humus

A mat-forming miniature gunnera, in complete contrast with the huge G. manicata. Cupped, scalloped, kidney-shaped leaves form a spreading mat. Minute green flowers are formed in compact panicles and these are followed by round, orangey red fruits.
