There are very many gentians that come from China, the Himalaya and Japan, some low ones and some with upright stems. All are beautiful, and most can be grown without too much difficulty.

Gentiana triflora 'Alba' is the white-flowered variety of this rightly popular species, with upright stems and clusters of large flowers.
