A plant with an eminently forgettable name - but at least it is better than the other one it goes by - Dictyolimon macrorhabdos. Coming from dry places - the name cabulica indicates its origins in Afghanistan - it makes a rosette of large, rounded, light grey leaves, with a wonderful marbled pattern. After a few years it produces a thinly branched structure of flowers, which are themselves not significant, but they are followed by seeds, each with a small, papery parachute. It is monocarpic, but gives increasing pleasure with each generation.
