This is a valuable species, which can flower from early summer to well on into autumn. There are many varieties, but they all have large tubular bell flowers, not flared, hanging downwards, normally some shade of pink, white or purple, and spotted with red or purple. They are generally reasonably vigorous, and will form good clumps. If they are cut back after the first flowering, further crops of flowers can be obtained.
Campanula punctata var. howozana is a fully hardy species which works well at the front of a herbaceous border. The flowers form neat hanging bells that are pale pink. It provides good ground cover that is not invasive.
