invisible.gif Narcissus assoanus subsp. requienii is a distinctive dwarf variety, with long, narrow leaves, just like a rush, and heads of a few small, bright yellow jonquil flowers, with very shallow cups.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'Baby Moon' bears petite, scented, bright yellow flowers.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'Bell Song' is a unusually coloured jonquil, lemon yellow with a pink cup, two flowers on each stem.
narcissus_bulbocodium2.jpg Narcissus bulbocodium var. conspicuus is a dwarf narcissus which produces flowers in a range of shadesof yellow, though they are usually quite deep in cultivation. A proud little plant with erect leaves and flowers. Likes acid soil.
narcissus_bulbocodium.jpg Narcissus bulbocodium Golden Bells Group is a particularly vigorous and reliable selection of this species, with golden yellow flared trumpet flowers.
narcissus_bulbocodium2.jpg Narcissus bulbocodium var. nivalis is a particularly dwarf (in height, not in flower size) form of the hoop petticoat daffodil, from Morocco.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'Canaliculatus' has sweetly scented blooms with white petals and yellow cups; about 6 are borne on each flower stalk.
invisible.gif Narcissus cantabricus subsp. cantabricus var. foliosus is a sweet little dwarf with pure white hoop-petticoat flowers.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'Carlton' is perhaps the best yellow daffodil, good for naturalising. It is robust, with large flowers, a good, strong yellow colour, and easy, each bulb forming a clump over a few years in good soil.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'Chiva' has uniformly yellow flowers, several to each stem, and sweetly scented, as it is a jonquil.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'Curlew' is unusual in that the colour changes from the bright yellow typical of daffodils when the flowers open to an ivory white colour. The flowers have a long trumpet and are fragrant. It is a vigorous variety, and each single bulb should soon multiply.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'Dickcissel' is a short jonquil with a shallow cup, which changes from yellow to white after the flowers open, giving a most unusual effect. It is one of many cultivars named after birds, in this case a North American one.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'February Gold' has lived up to its name after recent warm winters, but is always one of the earliest daffodils to flowers. It has swept-back petals on short stems, and is great for naturalising. We have hundreds on our sunny bank, where they have been for about 40 years.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'Hawera' is a slim, multi-stemmed daffodil with each stem bearing a loose umbel of 4 - 6 lemon-yellow flowers.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'Ice Follies' is white with a large, funnel-shaped, frilled, pale yellow cup, getting paler as the flower ages.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'Jack Snipe' is a cyclamineus hybrid, white with a yellow trumpet.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'Jenny' has creamy flowers with a yellow trumpet on short stems. The petals are swept back, showing that it is a cyclamineus hybrid.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'Jetfire' is a cyclamineus hybrid with yellow, swept-back petals and an orange-red trumpet.
narcissus_jonquilla2.jpg Narcissus jonquilla is the parent species of the jonquils, growing along river banks in Spain and Portugal. There are several scented flowers on each stem.
invisible.gif Narcissus jonquilla var. henriquesii is an attractive species with 2-4 deep yellow flowers per stem, distinguished from other jonquils by its rather longer corona. Sweetly scented.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'Jumblie' is an easy dwarf daffodil, with strongly swept-back petals and a long, narrow trumpet, all bright yellow.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'Little Witch' is a vigorous, early-flowering cyclamineus hybrid, with swept back petals. The yellow flowers last well.
narcissus_midget.jpg Narcissus 'Midget' is a real midget with pretty, neat, little bright yellow flowers. Great for pots.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'Minnow' a rapidly increasing dwarf daffodil with cream petals and a pale yellow cup that fades to cream.
invisible.gif Narcissus minor is a perfect miniature daffodil, shaped like the traditional yellow trumpet kinds, but half or a third of the size. Flowering early, it is always noticed. There have been clumps in the garden since before we arrived, so you can reckon on decades of pleasure from them.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'Mount Hood' is perhaps the best white daffodil, good for naturalising. The flowers are slightly creamy white with pale lemon coloured trumpets. They have grown in our lawn for decades – and save us from mowing until July!
invisible.gif Narcissus obvallaris has neat, bright yellow flowers on stiff stems, so it lasts well. Excellent for naturalising. Also known as the Tenby daffodil.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'Paperwhite' makes a wonderful house plant, with its strong and lovely scent, and heads of many small, pure white jonquil flowers.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'Petrel' is a hybrid of Narcissus triandrus, and has retained the typical 'angels' tears' flowers of that species, three to five of them on each stem, but they are white in this variety.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'Pipit' has pale lemon-coloured flowers.
invisible.gif Narcissus poeticus var. recurvus is the greatly loved 'narcissus' of southern Europe, where is grows in unbelievable abundance. Its white flowers with yellow centres rimmed with red are scented, and are amongst the latest of the genus to flower.
invisible.gif Narcissus pseudonarcissus 'Lobularis' is the original wild daffodil of which Shakespeare wrote in a "A Winters Tale", and Wordsworth had something to say about it too. Also sometimes known as the Lent Lily, it has a strong yellow trumpet and paler yellow petals, slightly swept forwards.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'Quail' is a jonquil with bronzy yellow flowers, several packed together on each stem.
invisible.gif Narcissus romieuxii 'Julia Jane' is a fine selection, which has large, scented creamy-yellow flowers with widely flared coronas and only the narrowest of petals.
invisible.gif Narcissus romieuxii var. rifanus produces its pale primrose, flared, ruffled trumpets in mid winter.
invisible.gif Narcissus romieuxii subsp. romieuxii has widely flared trumpets and almost no petals to speak of, in a lovely pale yellow.
invisible.gif Narcissus rupicola has single yellow flowers, quite small, with the cup very short and wide open.
invisible.gif Narcissus rupicola subsp. watieri has small, pure white flowers, with the trumpet very short and widely splayed. It comes from the Atlas mountains in Morocco.

invisible.gif Narcissus 'Thalia' has milk white flowers.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'Tripartite' was the first multiflowered split corona jonquil, so that the widely flared yellow corona looks like a six-petalled yellow flower nestling inside a large yellow flower. It also has a lovely sweet fragrance.
invisible.gif Narcissus 'White Giant' is great for cultivation indoors, probably flowering in mid winter, and filling the room with its particular fine scent. Each stem carries a small group of white jonquil flowers.
